Blue Note Jazz Club
131 W 3rd St, New York, NY 10012quick facts
intro
Blue Note is one of the prime spots for jazz and more in NYC. A classic, intimate and seated venue. Artists often come for multi-night stints, and two shows a night, so we get plenty of opportunities to see artists from Robert Glasper and Galactic to Tank and the Bangas. They've got table service offering food and/or drinks (but you have to meet the $20pp minimum). Pro tip: arrive on the early side to get a good spot!
history
Blue Note Jazz Club opened in 1981, and rapidly became one of the most prestigious jazz clubs in New York. Recording live albums in the space is very popular, so much so that in 2001, the venue decided to start their very own record label to release these albums, Blue Note Records. The club is still going strong, and since 2011 has hosted a month-long festival featuring dozens of performers called the Blue Note Jazz Festival. Blue Note have developed a presence internationally as well, opening clubs in Tokyo, Milan, Rio, and many other cities around the world.
