intro
Music Hall of Williamsburg is a great venue right in the heart of Williamsburg, always bringing an eclectic lineup of artists who span multiple genres. The sound inside is solid, and so many artists play here right before they blow up. Pro tip: the elevated platforms on either side of the dance floor are typically less crowded and have a great vantage point.
history
The Music Hall of Williamsburg may have formally opened in 2009, but the building has been hosting shows since 2001. Previously known as Northsix, it quickly established itself as one of the first Brooklyn venues to have a consistently eclectic yet popular group of artists in the lineup. Northsix was an important part of the explosion of the Brooklyn concert scene in the 2000s, but it was eventually forced to close in 2007 due to rent increases. The building was purchased by Bowery Presents who renovated the space and reopened with the new name two years later.
